【摘要】:Testresultsgivesomeindicationoftheapparentfiberlengthdistributioninthesampletested.Sievesareideallysuitedtomeasureparticlesizeandparticlesizedistributionwhenallthreeaxesoftheparticleareequidimensionalortheparticleisofsphericalshape.Asbestosfibersdifferconsiderablyfromtheseidealconditionsand,therefore,resultsdepartfromatruemeasureoffiberlengthandlengthdistribution.Characteristicsthatinfluencescreeningefficiencyinfluencetestresults.Amongthesearemoisturecontent,degreeoffiberization,harshness,andthetendencyforfiberstoclingtogether,andofshortfibersandfinestoclingtolongerfibers.Inspiteofitsshortcomings,thistestmethodisparticularlyusefulbecauseofitssimplicityandspeedandsatisfactoryreproducibility.Thetestissuitableforspecificationacceptanceandmanufacturingcontrol.1.1Thistestmethodcoversadryscreenanalysisforasbestosfiberbymeansofamechanicalsieveshaker.1.2ThistestmethodislimitedinitsapplicationtoGroup4andshorterchrysotileasbestosfibersamplesasdefinedinTestMethodD3639.However,someshortamphiboleasbestosfibersmaybesuitableforevaluationbythismethod.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsarestandard.Theinch-pound(customary)unitsinbracketsarepresentedforinformationonly.1.4Warning-Breathingofasbestosdustishazardous.Asbestosandasbestosproductspresentdemonstratedhealthrisksforusersandforthosewithwhomtheycomeintocontact.Inadditiontootherprecautions,whenworkingwithasbestos-cementproducts,minimizethedustthatresults.Forinformationonthesafeuseofchrysoltileasbestos,referto"SafeUseofChrysotileAsbestos:AManualonPreventiveandControlMeasures."Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificsafetyhazard,see1.4.
