【摘要】:Thistestmethodpermitstestingofthemajorcomponentsofadiggerderrickgeneratedbytherapidreleaseofenergyfromlocalizedsourceswithinthediggerderrickundercontrolledloading.Theenergyreleasesoccurduringintentionalapplicationofapredeterminedload.Theseenergyreleasescanbemonitoredandinterpretedbyqualifiedindividuals.Acceptance/rejectioncriteriaarebeyondthescopeofthistestmethod.Thetestmaybediscontinuedatanytimetoinvestigateaparticularareaofconcern,ortopreventafaultfromcontinuingtoultimatefailureofthediggerderrickresultingfromtheapplicationofthetestload.Thistestmethodprovidesameansofdetectingacousticemissionsourcesthatmaybedefects,irregularities,orboth,affectingthestructuralintegrityorintendeduseoftheaerialpersonneldevice.Significantsourcesofacousticemissionfoundwiththistestmethodshallbeevaluatedbyeithermorerefinedacousticemissiontesttechniquesorbyothernondestructivemethods(visual,liquidpenetrant,radiography,ultrasonic,magneticparticle,etc.).Othernondestructivemethodsmayberequiredinordertopreciselylocatedefectsinthediggerderrick,andtoestimatetheirsize.Additionaltestsareoutsidethescopeofthistestmethod.Defectiveareasfoundindiggerderricksbythistestmethodshouldberepairedandretestedasappropriate.Repairprocedurerecommendationsareoutsidethescopeofthistestmethod.Repairprocedurerecommendationsareoutsidethescopeofthistestmethod.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaprocedureforacousticemission(AE)testingofdiggerderricks.1.1.1EquipmentCovered8212;Thistestmethodappliestospecialmultipurposevehicle-mountedmachines,commonlyknownasdiggerderricks.Thesemachinesareprimarilydesignedtodigholes,setpoles,andpositionmaterialsandapparatus.1.1.1.1Insulatedandnon-insulatedtypediggerderricksmaybeevaluatedwiththistestmethod.1.1.1.2Diggerderricks,ifsoequippedtopositionpersonnelorequipment,orboth,mayalsobeevaluatedwiththistestmethodinconjunctionwithTestMethodF914.1.1.2EquipmentNotCovered8212;Excludedfromthistestmethodaregeneral-purposecranesdesignedonlyforliftingserviceandmachinesprimarilydesignedonlyfordiggingholes.1.2TheAEtestmethodisusedtodetectandarea-locateemissionsources.Verificationofemissionsourcesmayrequiretheuseofothernondestructivetest(NDT)methods,suchasradiography,ultrasonic,magneticparticle,liquidpenetrant,andvisualinspection.1.3WarningThistestmethodrequiresthatexternalloadsbeappliedtothesuperstructureofthevehicleundertest.Duringthetest,cautionmustbetakentosafeguardpersonnelandequipmentagainstunexpectedfailureorinstabilityofthevehicleorcomponents.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
