【摘要】:ThisCodeisintendedtoserveasthebasisforstateandlocaljurisdictionalauthoritiesinadoptingretroactiverequirementsforexistingelevatorsandescalatorstoenhancethesafetyofthegeneralpublic.Itisalsointendedasastandardreferenceofsafetyrequirementsfortheguidanceofarchitects,engineers,insurancecompanies,manufacturers,andcontractors,andasastandardofsafetypracticesforbuildingownersandmanagersofstructureswhereexistingelevatorequipmentcoveredinthescopeoftheCodeisused.ThepurposeofthisCodeistoestablishminimumrequirementsthatwillprovideareasonabledegreeofsafetyforthegeneralpublic.Whilemanyoftheserequirementswillalsoincreasethedegreeofsafetyfortheelevatormechanicandinspector,thisareahasnotbeenspecificallyaddressedatthistime.
