【摘要】:Thispracticeprovidesabasisforchoosing,specifying,recording,communicating,andstandardizingtheconditionsandprocessesthatdeterminethenatureofaphotographicimageofaspecimen.Itsprovisionsareparticularlyusefulwhenthephotographicimageisusedtopreserveorcommunicatetheappearanceofaspecimeninvolvedinanagingorstressingtestthataffectsitsappearance.Itisoftenusefultocomparephotographsmadeunderidenticalconditionsbeforeandafteratesttoillustrateachangeinappearance.Thispracticedealswithspecificdetailsofcameratechniqueandthephotographicprocess,soitwillprobablybebestunderstoodandimplementedbyatechnicalphotographerorsomeonetrainedinphotographicscience.Thepersonrequiringthephotographmustclearlyindicatetothephotographerwhatfeaturesofthespecimenareoftechnicalinterest,sohemayusetechniquesthatmakethosefeaturesclearlyevidentinthephotograph,withoutmisrepresentingtheappearanceofthespecimen.Thispracticeprovidesusefulguidanceonpresentingphotographsforviewing,providinganindicationofdimensionsorscale,indicatingtheorientationofthepicture,andreferringtoparticularpointsonapicture.Thesetechniquesshouldbeusefultothosewritingtechnicalliteratureinvolvingillustrationsoftheappearanceofspecimens.Themethodsofthispracticeshouldcontributemateriallytotheaccuracyandprecisionofotherstandardsthatrelyonpicturestoindicatevariousgradesofsomeattributeofappearance,suchasblisteringorcracking.Foracceptancetesting,manufacturingcontrol,andregulatorypurposes,itisdesirabletoemploymeasurement,butinthosecaseswheretherearenomethodsofmeasuringtheattributeofappearanceofinterest,well-madephotographsorphotomechanicalreproductionsofthemmaybethebestavailablewaytorecordandcommunicatetoaninspectorthenatureoftheattributeofappearance.1.1Thispracticedefinestermsandsymbolsandprovidesasystematicmethodofdescribingthearrangementoflights,camera,andsubject,thecharacteristicsoftheillumination,thenatureofthephotographicprocess,andtheviewingsystem.Conditionsforphotographingcertaincommonformsofspecimensarerecommended.Althoughthispracticeisapplicabletophotographicdocumentationingeneral,itisintendedforuseindescribingthephotographyofspecimensinvolvedintestingandinstandardizingsuchproceduresforparticularkindsofspecimens.Thispracticeisapplicabletomacrophotographybutphotomicrographyisexcludedfromthescopeofthispractice.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
